About St. Nick’s Secretary

Are you wondering how St. Nick’s Secretary came into being? Surely you have more to occupy your time. But if you really want to know…

I am a wife and mother, transitioning my professional life. (Actually, it is in constant transition, but what woman alive can’t say that?) I have been a popcorn girl in a movie theater, an ice cream girl, a clerk in a department store, an office worker, an elementary school teacher, a full-time mom, a professional seamstress, a small business owner, and a substitute teacher. Through it all, I have been a writer. Journals, poetry, scrapbook stories, and letters–writing scattered throughout life.

Over the past two years, I have been concentrating on learning about freelance writing and developing my skills as a writer. Of course, this is an ongoing process, and I hope to get busier and busier with the whole thing. One day, in surfing researching home-based business ideas involving writing, I came across this idea of ghostwriting for Santa. (Yes, it’s out there. I can’t claim this as an original idea! But the letters are from scratch. Cross my heart.) It really intrigued me, and Ta Da! Several months later, here it is. I have thought through the process as well as I can and have come up with some letters that I hope will appeal to children–and perhaps make an adult smile, remembering the special excitement and mystery that comes only at Christmas.

My wish is that everyone could know the joy and promise, love and mystery that this special season brings. “For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a savior which is Christ the Lord.”

Merry Christmas!
